Flu shot or no flu shot

I'm having this delima and thought I'd throw it out to the blog world to see what everyones opinions are.  Should I have my kids get a flu shot or not?  That is the question.  This whole delima came around a couple of days ago when I was in a pharmacy and they had flu shots.  I was able to get one and I did, but they couldn't give them to anyone under 12  so my children didn't.  That night and all the next day I was miserable!!!  I had a fever and the body aches that you associate with the flu.  As soon as I got sick I remembered my vow from the last year after I had gotten my flu shot [and was sick for a day] to not get one the next year.  I seem to faintly remember a vow from the year before that too.  Every time I get the flu shot I get sick for about a day and then I'm good.  I'm not sure if it's due to my lack of not having a spleen and therefore, there is nowhere for the infection to go but throughout my body, or if they just always make people sick.  So what do you think?  Should I have my kids get the flu shot?  Is it worth it?

The one year we actually got our flu shots was the one year we caught every single thing that went around. I'm definitely not a fan!

We get a flu shot every year and have had great success. I say get them, less chances to be home from school.

We always get them. So far, we've been lucky with them...

My thought process goes something like this. If it makes them sick for a day, which it may not, isnt that much better than what the flu can really do to them? Especially with Alexa and her already respirtory problems. I would def. get it.
